g. Write a balanced equation for the neutralization reaction that occurs when potassium hydroxide and hydrobromic acid are mixed. Include state symbols.

pH and pOH

pH is an indication of how acidic or basic a solution is.
pH = -log[H+].
A logarithm (log) is just the exponent to which ten (10x) is raised to obtain a given value.
For example if [H+] = 1.0x10-5, then the log of 1.0x10-5 = -5 and the pH would be 5.
It is easier to find the pOH for a base and then to convert to pH. The following formulas will help.
pOH = -log[OH-].
pH + pOH = 14
[H+][OH-] = 10-14
