The gravitational force between 2 masses is found by:

where G is a constant, [tex]m_{1} , m_{2}[/tex] are the masses and [tex]r^2[/tex] is the square of the distance between the two masses
Then, if the distance is increased twice, The force between the masses is decreased to the quarter. because of the reverse ratio between F and [tex]r^2[/tex]
