In the food chain, snakes feed on rabbits while snakes are fed on by hawks. The high population of snakes in the initial phases mean that they gave enormous limiting pressure on the rabbit population through predation. However, as you can see in the graph, when the population of snakes drops, that of rabbits increases. Also, the population of snakes are dependent on that of hawks.
