A pipe is 24 feet long. It needs to be cut into pieces that are each 34 feet long. How many pieces can be made from the pipe? Write your answer in simplest form

Let x=length of second piece. 

So first piece is twice this length --> 2x
and third piece is 6 feet longer than second --> x+6 

Together we have 2x + x + x+6 = 24
4x + 6 = 24
4x = 18
x = 18/4
