Hair color is an inherited trait. In marci's famliy, her mother has brown hair. Her father has blond hair. The family has 6 children in all. Of 6 children, 1/3 of them have blond hair, 1/6 of them have red hair, and 1/2 of them have brown hair. What fraction of the children have red or brown hair

For this problem, all we have to do is add!

We know that 1/3 (or 2/6) of the children have blonde hair
We know that 1/6 of the children have red hair
We know that 1/2 (or 3/6) of the children have brown hair

To find out how many children have red OR brown hair, we need to add the fractions together

1/6 + 3/6 = 4/6

If we simplify 4/6, we get 2/3
