Usually cell growth in normal cells are controlled by genes that promotes cell proliferation and also inhibiting them. If a damage occurs in normal cell,the damage is either rectified or apoptosis is initiated. When these genes that control cell proliferation or apoptosis acquires mutations they lose their ability to control their cell division process thereby acquiring uncontrolled cell growth.

The uncontrolled growth in cancer is due to accumulated abnormalities.

It should be noted that the uncontrolled growth of abnormal cells that are in the body results in cancer. In this case, when the normal control mechanism in the body of a person stops working, then cancer will develop.

Therefore, the old cells will not due but rather, they'll grow out of control and result in abnormal cells. They will k then form a mass of tissue that's referred to as a tumor.
