6y + 1 = 7y + 5
1. Move variable to the left and change sign
6y - 7y + 1 = 5
2. Move constant to the right and change the sign
6y - 7y = 5 - 1
3. Collect like terms
6y - 7y = -y and 5-1 = 4
-y = 4
4. Change Signs y = -4
Final Answer y = -4
