The Math Club is holding a fundraiser by selling pies. If they sell each pie for $12, how many
pies do they need to sell if they want to make at least $500? Define a variable, then write and
solve an inequality to represent this situation.

Respuesta :

variable- p=pie

12p≥500

The answer would be at least 42.

When you divide 500/12, you get 41.66666667. Since you can't sell that amount of cake, you have to round it up. You round it up instead of down because if you round down, then you won't have that amount anymore, and you will have less. Rounding it up will insure that you will get the right amount of money, even though you will have a few cents left over.

Hope this helps!<3
