England became Protestant as the ruler wanted a divorce that the pope did not grant.
Why did England become Protestant?
King Henry VIII was ruling England during the period of 1529 who requested a divorce to the pope for Catherine of Aragon to marry Anne Bolyn. The pope refused the divorce.
Upon the anger of the king over the pope, he himself split the Catholic Church and established the separate Church of England known as the Anglican Church.
Due to such conduct of King Henry VIII, England was Protestant.
