The composer who traveled the countryside transcribing and
recording in great detail the small-town and rural people’s music is Bartok. He
was a Hungarian composer and pianist. He collects Middle Eastern and Eastern
European folk music. Bartok is one of the best and greatest composers of 20th
century. He is also one of the founders of ethnomusicology which is the
ethnography and study of folk music.
