He found 36 rubies.

1200/x=100/3
(1200/x)*x=(100/3)*x       - we multiply both sides of the equation by x
1200=33.3333333333*x       - we divide both sides of the equation by (33.3333333333) to get x
1200/33.3333333333=x  
x=36
