Describe the possible relationship between physical brain development and behavior in adolescents. (Minimum of 3-5 sentences; 5 Points). Neural pruning seems to be related to the activities and actions adolescents choose to engage in because of their remaining stronger neural connections. Parts of the brain that continue developing later such as the corpus collosum, the prefrontal cortex, and the limbic system also seem to change behavior in adolescence. The corpus collosum thickens in adolescence allowing them improved abilities to process information. The prefrontal cortex, which keeps developing even in your 20's, is involved with more effective reasoning, decision making, and self-control once fully matured. This may explain the rash, emotional, and bad decisions adolescence experience. Finally, the limbic system will be fully developed in early adolescence and is involved in emotions and feeling of rewards.
