On his way to kill Duncan, Macbeth is confronted by a ghostly dagger. While he is
terrified he also tells himself that "there's no such thing. It is the bloody business which
informs thus to mine eye" (Act 2. Scene 1. Lines 59-60). In what ways may the
supernatural events in the play reflect the struggles taking place in Macbeth's
conscience, and what may they tell us about how he views his actions?
